One early morning in1991, late Dunsmuir Engineer John Googins and I made a photos and fuel stop at Wendel, California, on our way to San Pass to photograph the passing of UP #8444 and #3985, the fuel being an ample breakfast at the railroad 24 hour beanery. Nothing was moving. At left is the Engineers' Crew Quaters, while at right, Quincy Railroad #1100 - no mistaking its heritage - sits in between runs to its namesake city on the former Susanville Branch. A standard roster shot of the engine is located on Wx4's Quincy Railroad page.
